The DPEA participates in several local elementary school science nights each year. These events allow younger students to learn about the DPEA and about STEM opportunities in local high schools.
At these science nights, DPEA students showcase the projects that they've completed during their time in the DPEA, such as the 10th Grade Light Sculpture, consisting of an array of acrylic rods, which light up in a variety of different patterns. A light sculpture simulator allows the younger students at the science nights to see the effects of different code running on the light sculpture.
Other projects exhibited at local science night include the 11th grade kinetic sculpture.
For participating in these science nights, DPEA students earn community service hours.
If your elementary school would like to invite the DPEA to your science night, contact us using the "Information Requests" category.
